Kern is leading and building a data science and machine learning prototyping team at DKSH, a leading Swiss Market Expansion Services company that moves 10B CHF worth of goods in Asia each year. Works closely with Business Intelligence in Group IT to scale into production successful data science projects.
Kern drove the carbon assessment study of one of the greenest Asian cities. Previously, he designed the innovation & technology pipeline management process for Siemens AG. Before that, Kern oversaw the program office for China strategy, looking to drive over 1B EUR in order intake in China in the next five years. His first project was helping develop a carbon assessment software program for Siemens in China.
Kern was the lead analyst in developing and coordinating the realignment of the Six Sigma division with each internal business group for a large aerospace and defense contractor. Previously, he was the lead analyst in planning and execution of a strategic workshop involving the top 100 senior managers for the largest non-profit health system in the US. Before that, he created the strategic plan for the consulting arm for a child welfare nonprofit, resulting in greater clarity on project selection and staffing. He also assessed student demographic data, trends in education, and financial statements to formulate strategic options for a nonprofit educational institution.
Kern was the field applications engineer supporting suppliers and customers (including a subsidiary of United Microelectronics Corporation) in Taiwan. He also opened the Taiwan branch office and negotiated with various vendors when doing so.

Activities: Kern was a H. Hugh McConnell Scholarship recipient and received an Academic Distinction (top 10% of class) in seven courses. He scored a 760 (99th percentile) on the GMAT and was the co-lead of Marketing Club during his second year.
